Contemporary Bathroom Vanity Selections

by Wyatt Fisk

Modern vanities are vital bathroom components that provide practical storage and spaces and visual appeal. Aside from providing fixtures and plumbing in single well-integrated furnishings, vanities also help in keeping bath spaces organized and free from clutter. There are seemingly endless choices when it comes to sink vanities; some could be bought for as low as $50, while some furniture quality vanities are purchasable for $5,000 and above. For the most part, there is no such thing as best style when it comes to vanities considering that each of them are designed to complement different bathroom designs; indicated below are the most common types of vanities.

First in line are wall-mounted modern vanities. Wall-mounted vanities are perhaps the most common kinds of vanities usually employed in homes that have limited bathroom floor spaces. As their name connotes, wall-mounted vanities are suspended on walls without floor support. They are usually attached to walls through hanger brackets connected to the wall and wall back ups, while their plumbing and supply lines may either be exposed or concealed depending on the owners preference.

Vessel sink cabinets are fairly new designs in bathroom vanities market. In this type of vanity, the sink is usually sitting atop a countertop, which is then supported by a floor vanity base attached to the wall for stability. As its name implies, a vessel sink vanity has a bowl shaped basin into which the water flows from the faucet and drawers for storage purposes. The vessel may be constructed from different materials such as glass, porcelain and granite to name a few.

A pedestal contemporary vanity is a form of bathroom fixture befitting tight bathroom spaces. As its name suggest, this vanity is a stand alone fixture that holds the sink atop a pedestal, fastened to the wall for stability. The pedestal itself could conceal the plumbing and supply lines, making it visually appealing. This vanity usually comes as a set, complete with faucet, detached mirror, sink, towel rack, ptrap and drain.

Contemporary vanity with cabinets looks more like a high-quality living room furniture that could hold different sink types like vessel sink, drop-in sink, undermount sink and surface mounted sink. It can either be a single sink or double sink vanity, but it is larger compared to other types of vanities, which is why it is commonly seen in large bathrooms like those in hotels. It typically has a solid countertop that can be made from marble, granite, solid wood and metal among others. The good thing about this vanity is that it is an all-in-one fixture as it hold the mirror, sink and cabinets together.

All in all, there's a wide variety of modern vanities that could suit any bathroom space and design. When choosing a vanity for your bath space, always consider the design and materials that would best suit the overall design of your bathroom. Go for a vanity that will suit your budget, but also take into account the quality of your choice. With the selections available in the market, for sure you'll never run out of vanity designs that would produce consistent appearance that would tie your bathroom together.

Modern vanities play an integral role in setting the overall appearance of bath spaces. In fact, a simple contemporary vanity could become the focal point of the bath space as long as it befits the general interior design of the bathroom. Because of this, it is important to consider what vanity type would best complement your bathroom design. You could either choose from vessel sink cabinets, wall-mounted vanities or pedestal vanities depending on your bathroom's floor space and aesthetics.
